The UK scientific delegation visited the G. Eliava Institute of Bacteriophages, Microbiology and Virology on March 12- 13, 2024.
With a focus on food safety and animal health collaboration, the objectives of the visit were: strengthening existing relationships, identifying synergies and collaboration opportunities, prioritizing agricultural and food safety applications: Determine priority areas where phage technology could be used effectively in both countries’ agriculture and food safety sectors.
Dr Nina Chanishvili and Dr Marina Tediashvili presented information about the Eliava Institute, its activities, ongoing projects and future plans. Vakhtang Pavlenishvili presented information about the company “Eliava-Biopreparations”.
During the meeting, Phage application and legal approval were also discussed. The guests visited the Institute’s library, museum, scientific and training laboratories and the Eliava Phage Therapy Center.
