The Eliava Institute of Bacteriophages, Microbiology, and Virology participated in the international event of the World Health Organization (WHO EURO) and the Global Antimicrobial Resistance Research and Development (AMR R&D) Hub

The Eliava Institute of Bacteriophages, Microbiology, and Virology participated in the international event of the World Health Organization (WHO EURO) and the Global AMR R&D Hub – “Widespread use of bacteriophages in the fight against antimicrobial resistance from the perspective of One Health”. The event was hosted by the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC). The director of the institute, Dr. Mzia Kutateladze, made a speech at the event, which was attended by Georgian and foreign experts in the research and use of bacteriophages, among other topics, she spoke about the historical importance of the use, production, and clinical application of bacteriophages in Georgia and the modern challenges. Throughout the two-day event, Dr.Kutateladze stressed the need to develop relevant legislative / policy documents in the EU area, also on the importance of using bacteriophages under the One Health approach. Scientists from the Eliava Institute of Bacteriophages, Microbiology, and Virology participated in the event as well as representatives from the Eliava Consortium Companies (Eliava BioPreparations, Eliava Phage Therapy Center).
